Courage to Persevere Awards

The Courage to Persevere Project is committed to providing low-barrier, respectful, and uplifting financial awards at every institution we partner with. To date, we have honoured 10 students across two institutions.

Simon Fraser University

At SFU, The Courage to Persevere Project serves undergraduate students that are registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL).

At UVic, The Courage to Persevere Project supports Indigenous graduate students. 

The Courage to Persevere Project respectfully acknowledges that its founders are uninvited guests that live and work on the traditional and unceded territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsépsəm (Esquimalt) Nations) and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples (MÁLEXEȽ – Malahat First Nation, BOḰEĆEN – Pauquachin First Nation, SȾÁ¸UTW̱ – Tsawout First Nation, W̱JOȽEȽP – Tsartlip First Nation, and W̱SÍḴEM – Tseycum First Nation). 

 

We acknowledge with gratitude the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples, whose historical relationships with these lands, waters, and communities continue to this day. We recognize the enduring presence and resilience of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples across what is now called Canada, and the ongoing impacts of colonization, forced displacement, and genocide. With humility, we commit ourselves to meaningful action in advancing reconciliation and to supporting the success and well-being of Indigenous learners in post-secondary education.
